Program Overview

The Fusemachines AI Fellowship is a dynamic program created with a keen focus on training and upskilling engineering students, graduates and postgraduates to make them ideally suited for an AI career. First launched in 2017, each routinely updated program is episodically remodeled to offer innovative and up-to-date courses. The 2022 program offers Fusemachines’ proprietary Microdegree™ programs, with courses holding direct relevance to the AI field. Fellows will receive a Full Scholarship and a possible job placement opportunity after the successful completion of the program.

Microdegree™ in AI

A Microdegree™ program for Artificial Intelligence is an accelerated blended learning program created by leading US university faculty members and AI industry experts with the aim to upskill participants with AI knowledge so they can confidently grasp further AI opportunities in the field.

This course includes in-depth exploration and discussion on various ML workflows, techniques, and methods.

Deep Learning

Deep Learning

Course Duration: 3 months

The course on Deep Learning includes comprehensive exploration and discussion on various DL architectures, implementations, workflows, and techniques, and also the know-how on building, training, and deploying models efficiently.

Microdegree™ Specialization

The Microdegree™ Specialization program is an additional program consisting of courses on Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing. You have an option to take either the course on CV or NLP or both. The courses in this program can be accessed after the completion of the Microdegree™ in AI program.

Computer Vision

Computer Vision

Course Duration: 3 months

The course includes a thorough and methodical study of various CV concepts, such as image processing, feature detection, image classification, and object recognition.

Natural Language Processing

Course Duration: 3 months

The course includes an in-depth inspection of, and discussions on, various NLP concepts, such as text normalization, classification, clustering, language modeling, parsing, information extraction, and machine translation.

As such, the need for AI specialists is also simultaneously on the rise. The current market demand-and-supply of AI talent, however, is not on equal footing, with the demand surpassing the supply. Thus, a career in AI is extremely ripe for sowing and laden with many opportunities. The number of companies utilizing AI-enabled services is rapidly growing in Nepal as well, with different sectors, such as banking, finance, and healthcare, inviting AI and ML engineers, data analysts, and scientists to improve integrated systems with AI. Innovative sectors in the country using AI-enabled services include mobile and internet banking, online shopping portals, financial institutions, online and blended education sects, IT sectors, public service sectors, customer service sectors, automation in agriculture and healthcare, among others.

The Microdegree™ in AI courses can be pursued by students and engineers who already possess basic Computer Science and Mathematics foundations. These prerequisites include basic knowledge of linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics. The program also requires programming experience in Python and know-how on the implementation of computer science algorithms and object-oriented programming. Participants should have the ability to run programs and interpret output from a command line terminal or shell. Ideally, students fitting the enrollment criteria generally include 4th year graduating students who check off the specifications. Prior to enrollment, students will be required to undergo an eligibility test to check if they have enough foundational skills to take the course. Additionally, you can also choose to pursue either or both of the courses in the Microdegree™ Specialization program after the completion of the Microdgeree in AI program.

After the completion of the courses in the program, you will have a solid understanding of Machine Learning and Deep Learning algorithms, to select and apply appropriate algorithms, libraries, and frameworks techniques for different AI problems and assess the performance, evaluate and compare different AI models to design and deploy end-to-end pipelines. You will also be able to run experiments to change code details to improve the algorithm.

The total duration of the program is 1 year. The Microdegree™ in AI program is the primary compulsory program, lasting 6 months, with 2 courses that last 3 months each. Students can then choose to further pursue the Microdegree™ Specialization program after the completion of the primary program. The Microdegree™ Specialization program consists of 2 courses as well, lasting 3 months each.
